The Government announced today (January 20) that the following members had been appointed to the Education Commission (EC): -

* Mr Fung Man-ching (until December 31, 2003)
* Dr Simon Leung man-on (until December 31, 2003)
* Dr Sandra Tsang Kit-man (until December 31, 2003)
* Mr Moses Cheng Mo-chi, JP (until December 31, 2004)
* Dr Anissa Chan Wong Lai-kuen, MH (until December 31, 2004)

Mr Fung Man-ching is the Chairman of the Subsidised Primary Schools Council and Headmaster of CCC Kei Faat Primary School. Dr Simon Leung is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Special Schools Council and Chief Executive Officer of Ebenezer School & Home for the Visually Impaired. Dr Sandra Tsang is the Chairperson of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation and Associate Professor of the University of Hong Kong. Dr Anissa Chan is the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Subsidised Secondary Schools Council and Principal of SKH Bishop Mok Sau Tseng Secondary School. Mr Moses Cheng was the former Chairman of the Board of Education (BoE) and Senior Partner of P.C. Woo & Co.

The Secretary for Education and Manpower, Professor Arthur Li, said, " Following the merger of the EC and the BoE, we have broadened the membership of EC to include ex-BoE Chairman, representatives of the main school councils and the Home School Cooperation Committee appointed on ad personam basis. With their rich experience in education and other sectors of the community, I am confident that they will be able to contribute useful ideas and provide effective support to the work of the Commission."
