Re-appointment of Chairman to Education Commission

The Government announced today (April 25) the re-appointment of Dr Rosanna Wong Yick-ming as the Chairman of the Education Commission (EC) for a term of two years from May 1, 2003 to April 30, 2005.

Dr Wong first took up the chairmanship of the EC on May 1, 2001.

The Secretary for Education and Manpower, Professor Arthur K C Li said, "We are grateful for Dr Wong's able leadership, strong commitment and valuable contribution to the work of the EC, and her agreement to continue to serve as the EC Chairman for another two-year term with effect from May 1, 2003."

"Under Dr Wong's leadership, the EC continues to give the Government valuable advice on overall education policy and implementation priorities, as well as the coordination of the work of various major education bodies to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the Education Reform.

"Dr Wong's re-appointment as the EC Chairman will help ensure the continuity of the education reform," he said.
