The Government today (December 18) announced the appointment of two non-official members to the Education Commission.

Newly appointed to the Commission is Mr Liu Ah-chuen, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Subsidised Secondary Schools Council and Principal of Christian Alliance S W Chan Memorial College, while Mr Lester Garson Huang, a partner of P C Woo & Co, is re-appointed.  They are appointed in their personal capacities for a term of two years with effect from January 1, 2009.

The Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, said, "With these two members' rich experience in the education and professional sectors of the community, I am confident that they will be able to provide valuable advice and contribute to the work of the Commission."

Mr Suen also thanked the outgoing member, Ms Shirley Wong She-lai, former Chairman of the Hong Kong Subsidised Secondary Schools Council, for her valuable contribution to the work of the Commission.
