EC discusses the next stage of education system review
The following is issued on behalf of the Education Commission:
The Education Commission (EC) at its meeting today (Monday)
discussed the plan to take forward the review of education
system into the next stage.
The Chairman, Mr Antony Leung, said: "In the next stage of
the review, we will study issues in relation to curriculum,
assessment and academic structure. These will cover, inter
alia, tertiary admission criteria, secondary school places
allocation, Academic Aptitude Test (AMT) and other related
issues."
"We will work closely with other education-related bodies,
including the Education Department (ED), the Curriculum Development
Council/Curriculum Development Institute (CDC/CDI), the Hong
Kong Examinations Authority (HKEA) and the Board of Education
(BOE), in the deliberation of various issues. Representatives
from other sectors such as social services, art and culture
will also be invited to join the relevant working groups."
Mr Leung said: "We welcome suggestions from the community
and the education sector on the various issues relating to
the review. In the course of the review, we will also meet
with organisations from different sectors to listen to their
views."
