Reporting Session on Progress of Education Reform 2006

  • On 2 December 2006, the Education Commission (EC) held its 4th Reporting Session on the Education Reform.

  • This year, the EC invited Professor Barry McGaw to deliver a keynote speech on “An International View of Hong Kong’s Education Reform”. Professor McGaw had been Director for Education at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and is currently Director of the Melbourne Education Research Institute at the University of Melbourne. Given Professor McGaw’s rich experience in education, especially in the areas of curriculum and assessment, his speech has indeed shed light on the progress of the Education Reform and future developments in Hong Kong.

  • The EC has video-taped some real-life cases to show the changes in learning and teaching in schools brought about by the Education Reform since its implementation in 2000. The video titled “Teaming Up for the Education of Our Next Generation” shown at the Reporting Session on 2 December 2006 (Chinese version with English subtitles) is now available on loan at the Resource Centre of the Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre on the Podium Floor, West Block at 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong.
