Under Secretary for Education, Dr Jeff Sze, and Members of the Education Commission (EC) visited King’s College Old Boys’ Association Primary School on 21 November 2025 to learn about the implementation of digital education and innovation and technology at the school.

 

The school Principal, Ms Wat Ka-man, briefed the EC Members on the school’s experience in integrating emerging technologies, such as coding robots and artificial intelligence (AI), into its school-based curriculum design and teaching activities, and how the school integrated technology into learning and teaching in promoting inter-disciplinary learning. The school also shared its strategies for cultivating students’ creative thinking and digital literacy as well as fostering a vibrant school-wide learning atmosphere for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) education. Students then demonstrated creative problem-solving with AI technologies in everyday life, showcasing practical applications of technology in enhancing learning effectiveness and efficiency. Members also exchanged views with parents and students on the key role of home-school collaboration in supporting the development of digital education.

 

The EC Chairman, Dr David Wong, commended the Government’s continuous efforts to promote further integration of innovation and technology with education, advancing the high-quality development of digital education and STEAM education. During the visit, he was deeply impressed by the commitment and achievements of Hong Kong’s education sector in nurturing innovation and technology talent. He believed that these measures would not only elevate students’ innovative thinking, technology application competencies and information literacy but would also provide a solid foundation to nurture talents for Hong Kong to actively integrate into the overall national development.

 

During the visit, Members also joined students in an interactive activity that used an AI-powered Chatbot to learn about the Legislative Council election and experienced how innovation and technology could be leveraged for civic education. On this note, the EC took the opportunity to call on the education sector and parents to cast their votes in the 2025 Legislative Council General Election on 7 December 2025 so as to fulfill their civic responsibilities and set a good example for students.
